Baking with Grace

The other night, I finally decided to bake the oatmeal chocolate chip cookies I purchased a few weeks ago.

I'm not really a "from scratch" kind of girl.

I'm a "rip open the bag" kind of girl.

I did have to soften a stick of butter and crack an egg, so it's not like I didn't do ANYTHING.  But I just LOVE those Betty Crocker bags of cookies and brownies!  They are so easy and are the perfect size!

The first thing I had to do, when baking cookies with Grace, was take a picture of her!

See how her foot is blurry?  Whenever her feet can't reach the floor, she swings them.  One of the many little mannerisms I love about Grace!

Next, and this might irritate some of you, I had to take a picture of my BEAUTIFUL KitchenAid mixer which I totally don't deserve!

Mmmm...cookie dough...

And finally, I had to take a picture of the two of us, because around the time I was scooping the dough on to the baking stone, Grace decided the temptation to STAND on the counter was too much to bare, and I had to put her on the floor which meant that mommy-daughter-baking-time was over.

Awww!  We're so cute!

I didn't get a picture of eating the cookies because it got a little messy...Grace and I both love warm oatmeal chocolate chip cookies!  As a matter of fact, Grace sat on my lap as we ate our cookies, and she finished hers first.  I had a little corner left in my hand, and Grace was certain that I had been saving that piece for her, so she just took it right out of my hand and popped it in her mouth!  Then, face covered in chocolate and cookie crumbs, she turned to me to give me a hug and smeared her face on my t-shirt, then followed it up with a kiss.

I love my daughter.

  1. So so sweet! Love the photos! Love the cookie dough shot! (Almost like porn!)

And I'm not even a rip the bag open kind of girl ... I'm a buy a premade tub and just scoop it out and bake it kind of girl. (Or scoop it out and eat it raw kind of girl!)

  2. FUN! She'll remember those special moments with you.
I am not a fan of raisins in my oatmeal cookies. We must be related, because I love choc chips in 'em, too! :)

  4. Visiting from SITS..

SO sweet to make cookies with your little girl! My kids would love it if I did that. Hmmm...Then again, they might be too shocked by the sight of me in the kitchen!

  5. Thanks for visiting me! I thought that I would return the favor, and I am glad I did. I just have to say that I just baked one of those cookie packages with my daughter yesterday, and they are yum, and she is fab!! :)

  6. That's so great! Such nice pictures too!

I love baking with the kids but they usually abandon me after one tray is done. They always return for the finished product though!

It's a very good thing to cook with your daughter. Even if it's a box!
